Students from the SC community who are enrolled in Classes 9 and 10 are eligible to apply. Many youngsters drop out of school and this scholarship is aimed at reducing the rate of students who leave school when transitioning from the elementary stage to the secondary stage. The selected scholars will be granted a consolidated academic allowance; and disabled students will receive an extra allowance.

The eligibility norms for this scholarship programme include:
- He/she has to be an Indian Citizen with domicile status of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh
- The candidate has to belong to the Scheduled Castes (SC) category in the HP state
- Only full-time students of Classes 9 and 10 are invited to apply
- The student’s annual family income has to equal to or less than INR 250000 per annum

The consolidated academic allowance as part of the scholarship includes:
- For Day Scholars: INR 3500 per year
- For Hostellers: INR 7000 per year
Note: Besides that, disabled students can benefit from an extra 10% allowance.

Refer to the below-listed details for the different steps in the application process:
- You have to first go to the National Scholarship Portal
- Now, look for the “Applicant Corner” section and select the “New Registration” tab from the menu
- Subsequently, the application guidelines are displayed on the screen; read the instructions, tick the checkboxes, and then tap the “Continue” link
- On the new page, enter details including your mobile number, captcha code, and OTP, which you should submit
- The system then exhibits the Registration Page, at which point you have to provide the required details and then tap the “Save & Register” tab to get registered
- Upon successful registration, the system generates your “Application ID” and “Password”
- Go ahead to click the “Fresh Application” tab to be directed to the login page
- Here, input your login credentials to log in to your account
- Once you sign in, you have to access the Scholarship Application Page
- Fill in the mandatory details in the form and then upload the compulsory documents
- Always check your application and make any changes, if needed; and go ahead to submit your application

Centrally Sponsored Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC Students Himachal Pradesh 2023: Terms and Conditions
- The selected applicant cannot avail any other scholarship or stipend
- Candidates will be awarded scholarships by the state to which they belong
- The Union Government of India reserves the right to change the scheme provisions at any time
- The validity of the scholarship is 1 year. Upon failing the school year, the student will not receive scholarship to repeat the class another time
- In case the scholar does not appear for the annual exam because of health issues, the award will be renewed only upon him / her providing a medical certificate from a competent authority.
